Holiday Club Conceived, Planned and Executed in two weeks?
Just a prior to our leaving for the pastor’s conference in York, Patti spoke with Pat Starling of Calvary Edinburgh. Pat said that they had planned to do a Holiday Club (VBS) in Danderhall but would probably not do it because they did not have the staff to pull it off. Zoe Carter queried as to whether Pat had contacted the Worth’s and her answer was something along the lines of “DUH”.

So of course we agreed to help. We met two days later for a strategy and planning meeting. Zoe (23) was the mastermind. She had the conceptand a good deal of the script for the Drama, she had most all of the crafts done.

So Patti and I took of to the Pastor’s Conference. I took my laptop and external hard drive so that I could prepare the Items I was responsible for. That turned out to be a bad idea as they were both stolen.

We got back home late Thursday night.

We met on Sunday afternoon and began Holiday club on Monday morning. We started with 22 children, most of them between the ages of 4 and 8.
I had 3-4 younger boys and one girl (the older sister of one of my boys who wanted to stay with him) Patti had 5-8 younger girls which was quite a handful especially with crafts so others jumped in to help. (one little girl is a leukemia survivor)
Dan and Pat have a quick schedule that keeps things moving and no chance for boredom. Dan, Christopher (a young minister from the Church of Scotland) and I handled the teaching… Zoe was the Craftmaster and she actually taught Bible Principles as she explained how to do the craft.
Zoe, Dan, Patti, and I were the thespians (Seafarers searching for treasure)… and we had loads of games and activities…. it was a real hoot. Patti and I really learned a lot. Zoe has offered her services to us for future ventures.

One of the things that amazed me were the number of children who with no knowledge of the Gospel.
It seemed as if they were hearing about Jesus for the first time. We had some wonderful conversations.
The children were all invited to Sunday School.
Quite a number of them said they would come.
Please pray that the seeds planted would bear much fruit. That these children might even bring their parents to the fellowship and ultimately to Christ.

Never let the smarties choose who gets wet.
